The stately Benoordenhout area is a much-loved and typical Hague neighbourhood. The houses, built mainly in the 1930s are generally spacious and comfortable. As in Archipel, alongside a few large villas, the area features terraced houses, and apartments. The characteristic facades and clear urban planning structure impart a monumental yet residential feel to the district. The facades of which are protected by the city’s historic preservation regulations.
Institutions and multinational companies such as the International Criminal Court (ICC) and Royal Dutch Shell have established offices in the area and draw many expats.
Benoordenhout is one of the greenest areas of the city with many parks including Oostduin-Arendsdorp, Clingendael, Bosjes van Zanen, and the Rosarium. The location provides easy access to the city centre and highways, while the beach is just a short bike ride away.
